Emiliano Zapata, el revolucionario que luchó por la justicia social

Emiliano Zapata es uno de los personajes de la Revolución Mexicana más recordados, ya que sus ideales de justicia y libertad lo convirtieron en el líder de los campesinos que eran explotados por los hacendados para trabajar las tierras. Sin embargo, aunque es conocido por ser un hombre de carácter fuerte, el líder revolucionario era una persona alegre que disfrutaba bailar y tenía gusto por las mujeres.

Sin embargo, sus ideales de lucha comienzan en su infancia, cuando Zapata veía llorar a su padre porque los hacendados le quitaban la tierra al pueblo; por lo que con 23 años de edad “El Caudillo del Sur” se inició en la vida política, siendo líder de una junta de Campesinos en Cuautla, desde donde comenzaría a impulsar un movimiento de justicia para los campesinos.

En 1909, fue elegido jefe de la junta de defensa de Anenecuilco y en 1910, luego de haber sido popular en la región, se unió al movimiento revolucionario de Francisco I. Madero, encabezando un grupo armado que logró tomar Jojutla, Chiname y Cuernavaca. Aunque el objetivo en conjunto era derrocar a Porfirio Díaz, Zapata siempre mantuvo su objetivo en devolver la tierra a los campesinos.

Luego de una lucha de varios años, el 10 de abril de 1919 es traicionado, emboscado y asesinado por el coronel Jesús Guajardo, uno de los oficiales que había fingido estar de su lado. Así, el cuerpo de Zapata fue exhibido en público, aunque existen una serie de mitos que ponen en duda que realmente haya sido asesinado, ya que el cadáver tenía completos los dedos de las manos y a Zapata le faltaba el dedo meñique, además de que no tenía una marca en la espalda.
